The inside is also this color and I've talked to another collector who has several repainted F200's with original dark maroon paint on the inside of the machines, so this is an original color for this model. The paint on this example is darker than any I've seen on another Ford-viewed live it's dark maroon, almost brown. #Ford gum machine serial numbers serial number9218." Silent Salesmen Too dates this serial number to 1923 or 1924. This tag says "FORD SALES VENDING CORPORATION, East Aurora, N.Y. The body has a raised coin slot that's formed directly into the top plate, and the serial number is printed on the lower right of the front tag. The machine on the far left is the earliest style Ford made, and is the same style seen on the York. What follows is a short description of each:ฤก. Pictured above are various Fords in chronological order of body and globe styles from the early 1920s through about 1960. I know of only 4 Yorks that exist today, all of which have 'YORK' embossed on a round globe that's a lot smaller than the embossed Ford globes. It started with the York, which was invented by Wallace Mason and his son, Ford, and quickly evolved into the Ford. The Ford design has changed very little over the years. They're small, simple machines, but a nice early example has great character at an affordable price. ![]() ![]() I agree with this assessment of later Fords, but I really like the early models. Ford machines are eschewed by some collectors because of their abundance and the great similarity between models.
